Integrations

Google ADK

Give a Google Agent Development Kit agent Reelspan's publishing tools with McpToolset and the hosted MCP server, to post and check social media results.

Google's Agent Development Kit (ADK) loads tools from MCP servers with McpToolset, so an ADK agent can use Reelspan's hosted MCP server to publish, schedule and read results. There is no separate Reelspan package to install.

Install

pip install "google-adk[mcp]"

API key

Create a key under Developers → API keys and export it, along with your Gemini key. Start with a test key (rs_test_…): every check runs, but nothing is posted.

export REELSPAN_API_KEY=rs_test_...
export GOOGLE_API_KEY=...

Example

ADK finds agents by folder. Create social_agent/__init__.py containing from . import agent, and social_agent/agent.py:

import os

from google.adk.agents import LlmAgent
from google.adk.tools.mcp_tool import McpToolset
from google.adk.tools.mcp_tool.mcp_session_manager import StreamableHTTPConnectionParams

root_agent = LlmAgent(
    model="gemini-flash-latest",
    name="social_publisher",
    instruction="You publish and check social media posts with the Reelspan tools.",
    tools=[
        McpToolset(
            connection_params=StreamableHTTPConnectionParams(
                url="https://api.reelspan.com/mcp",
                headers={"Authorization": f"Bearer {os.environ['REELSPAN_API_KEY']}"},
                timeout=30,
            )
        )
    ],
)

Run it from the folder above social_agent, with the terminal chat or the dev UI:

adk run social_agent

Then ask: "Publish 'Hello from my ADK agent' as a text post to the sandbox network for the profile my-brand, then check its status." The sandbox network needs no connected account. Replace my-brand with one of your profiles.

Notes

  • Define the toolset in agent.py, as above, rather than creating it at run time: ADK needs it there when you deploy the agent.
  • Posting runs in the background. The publish tools return a request_id; the agent calls upload_status to read each network's result.
  • Media goes in as URLs. upload_video and upload_photos take public https URLs, not local files.
  • Going live: swap the test key for a live one (rs_live_…) and use real networks instead of sandbox.

The full tool list is on the MCP server page. ADK's own guide: adk.dev/tools-custom/mcp-tools.
