Accounts and connecting
Do I need my own TikTok, Meta or Google developer app?
No. TikTok, YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, X, Threads, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Reddit and Google Business connect through Reelspan's own apps with the network's usual sign-in, so you don't need an app, an API review or a quota of your own. A few networks connect with something you create on their side instead: a bot for Telegram, a channel webhook for Discord, a Slack app, an app password for Bluesky, an access token for Mastodon, and so on. See Connecting accounts.
What is a profile?
A profile holds one account per network, usually one brand or one client. You name the profile in user when you post, and the post goes to that profile's accounts. Your plan sets how many profiles you can have. See Profiles.
Are limits per profile, per account or per workspace?
Per workspace. Rate limits, monthly uploads (Free plan), AI credits and storage are shared by every key and profile in the workspace. Reelspan has no daily cap per connected account; the networks have their own. See Plans and limits and Network posting limits.
Does Instagram need a Facebook Page?
Yes. Instagram connects through Facebook Login, and Reelspan posts to the Instagram professional (Business or Creator) account linked to a Facebook Page you manage. Connecting Facebook once covers both; each is still its own connection on the profile.
How do my clients connect their accounts without giving me their passwords?
Create a connect link for their profile (POST /v1/connect-links). It is valid for 48 hours and needs no Reelspan login; the client signs in to each network themselves. On Pro and above the page can carry your logo and texts. See White-label connect.
Why does an account suddenly need reconnecting?
The network stopped accepting its access: the password changed, access was revoked, a permission was removed, or the token ran out (LinkedIn's last 60 days and can't be renewed without the person). Reelspan refreshes tokens itself wherever the network allows. When one fails, posts to it fail with reauth_required and a social_account_reauth_required webhook is sent. See Troubleshooting.
Posting
What happens if one network fails?
Only that network fails. Each network in results has its own success, url and error_code, and the others publish normally. Send just the failed ones again with Retry; the media isn't uploaded again.
How do I know a post went live?
A request that finishes within 59 seconds returns each network's url in results. Otherwise poll Post status with the request_id, or receive an upload_completed webhook per network. See Async posts.
How big can a video be?
Up to your plan's limit: 0.5 GB on Free, up to 8 GB on Scale. Files over 100 MB go up with a direct upload, which the SDKs do for you. Each network has its own limits too. See Large files and Video requirements.
Can I post from a URL instead of uploading?
Yes. video, photos[] and document take a public https:// URL, including Google Drive and Dropbox share links. See Large files.
Can I post the same video to several profiles?
One request posts to one profile. Upload the video once with Upload media, then send one post per profile with the same video_media_id.
Can I write a different caption for each network?
Yes. title is used everywhere, and {network}_title (such as tiktok_title, x_title) replaces it on one network. Long text becomes a thread on X and Bluesky. See Character limits.
How do I post a YouTube Short?
Post a vertical (or square) video of 3 minutes or less to youtube; YouTube treats it as a Short, and Reelspan returns the youtube.com/shorts/ URL. There is no separate endpoint.
Can I edit or delete a post after it is published?
On most networks, yes. Unpublish deletes a live post on Facebook, LinkedIn, X, Pinterest, Bluesky, Google Business, Discord, Telegram, Mastodon and WordPress, and Edit a post changes its text on the same networks except Bluesky. Instagram, TikTok, Threads and YouTube posts can't be changed or deleted through Reelspan (a YouTube video's thumbnail can, with YouTube thumbnail). Until a post is published, you can edit or cancel it as a scheduled post.
Can I add a first comment?
Yes: first_comment is posted right after the post goes live (as a reply on X, Bluesky and Threads), and {network}_first_comment overrides it for one network. If a network has no comments API or refuses, the post still counts and its result carries a warning.
Scheduling
How far ahead can I schedule, and in which timezone?
Up to 365 days ahead. Send scheduled_date in ISO 8601 with an offset, or a local time plus an IANA timezone such as Europe/Berlin. You can also add posts to a profile's queue or repeat them daily, weekly or monthly. See Scheduling and repeats.
Can a client approve posts before they go out?
Yes. Put scheduled posts in an approval link; each waits until the client approves it. See Approval links.
Building and testing
How do I test without publishing anything?
Use a test key (rs_test_…). Posts go through every check but are not sent to the networks and don't count against your plan. The sandbox network lets you rehearse successes and failures. See Test mode.
How do I avoid posting twice when I retry?
Send an Idempotency-Key header; a retry with the same key returns the first result instead of posting again. The SDKs add one to every post. See Retrying safely.
Can I use Reelspan from n8n, Make, Zapier or an AI agent?
Yes. No-code tools call the API with their HTTP request step; see n8n, Make and Zapier. AI assistants and agent frameworks connect to the MCP server.
I use Upload-Post. How much do I have to change?
Very little: Reelspan takes the same request shapes and field names. Change the base URL to https://api.reelspan.com/v1 and send your Reelspan key as Authorization: Bearer <key>. See Migrate from Upload-Post.
Plans
What does "unlimited uploads" mean?
Paid plans have no monthly upload count. The ceiling is your plan's API rate limit, which every request counts against. The Free plan has 15 uploads a month, one per network per post. See Plans and limits.
What happens when I reach the Free plan's limit?
Posts are refused with 429 and your usage until the 1st of the next month (UTC), or until you upgrade. Test-key posts are never counted.
